Classical ranking

The long game, where the best move is usually found. FIDE counts a game as classical when it is 60 minutes or more.

How this is ordered

Not by rating, but by the bottom of each rating band — the number we are prepared to defend. A player on a lucky run has a high rating and a wide band, so they sit below somebody with a lower rating that has been proven over many games.

A band narrower than ±100 counts as settled. Anything wider is marked with a ?.

Four lists, not one

Bullet and classical are different games played with the same pieces, so each speed is rated separately — as FIDE keeps standard, rapid and blitz apart. The overall table shows whichever of a member's ratings they have proven best.

Bullet: under 3 minutes
Blitz: 10 minutes or less
Rapid: over 10 and under 60 minutes
Classical: 60 minutes or more
